Description:
Motto: Nothing Happens Until People Start Talking About the City Club: The City Club of Boise was founded in 1995 by Boisean Dottie Stimpson. Stimpson, a longtime community volunteer and philanthropist, felt Boise was ready for a venue where its citizens could learn about and discuss important issues of the day in a non-partisan, civil manner. Taking its cue from other established City Clubs around the country, The City Club of Boise is governed by a volunteer board and is supported by membership dues and corporate and non-profit partners. The City Club has over 500 members. At least once a month, the City Club hosts a lunchtime forum. A sole speaker or a panel of speakers addresses the group for 30 minutes, followed by questions from the audience for another half hour, allowing for lively discussion. We do not have a regular day for our forums, so that we can accommodate speakers¿¿¿ schedules. Our forums regularly attract 200 attendees. The club has explored a wide variety of topics, from health care to the arts, from an annual ¿¿¿political pundits panel¿¿¿ to a discussion of growth in the Treasure Valley. We welcome ideas for forum topics, or volunteers for our committees.
