I called and after answering some questions was assured that my Mom would qualify for Medicaid and also what was left of my Dad's retirement could be protected. An Elder Planning Alliance representative came to our home. He sat down with us and explained the process and answered all of our questions. It was such a relief! In the weeks that followed I had to call him several times to ask questions or voice a concern. He was so patient and kind. I never felt he was too busy or irritated with my call. The girls in the office were also very patient and helpful if I needed to talk with them. My mom received her Medicaid and my Dad's retirement is in tact. As I live in Massachusetts and was not familiar with Florida laws and procedures, you can imagine my shock when I saw what I would be required to do. Not knowing what to do, I began to surf the internet and found a very informative and friendly website. It was for Elder Planning Alliance. Again, I did not know if they would be able to help me. Was I in for a pleasant surprise. After explaining my dilemma, the voice on the other end of the phone reassured me that help was available. Because I live in Massachusetts and mom was in Florida, you can imagine the problems incurred. However, it was arranged that I would meet with a representative of Elder Planning Alliance at my mom's home while visiting. Throughout the whole process, Margaret, Bonnie, and all the professionals at Elder Planning Alliance were on top of things, keeping me informed on the progress of mom's application along with the resolution of all problems that resulted from the lack of records needed. This agency was my salvation and I am truly grateful to have had them to take care of what was a very difficult situation for me. The past several months I have been working in circles with the nursing home where my 90 year old grandmother resides. These past few month have been a nightmare with a lot of effort put forth and no resolutions provided. Then in walks Rick with his smile and comforting tone. I knew I was in good hands. He worked so diligently without stopping until we were done, always going above and beyond what was asked of him.
