Spirit had a very aggressive form of cancer located in his left Tonsil. The consult was 120.00. We had the Tonsil removed and unfortunately they could do nothing to stop the spread. Dr Sweet and the whole staff at OSVS was wonderful to us. The whole case cost me about $1000.00. When Dr Sweet learned we had to euthanize with our regular vet he sent us a wonderful note. I have NO idea what people think when they go to OSVS but I will use them in the future if I need to they are wonderful Judith Catchpole (Hide)

(More) very unhappy with their sevices as well as a few other vets I have brought my dog into. prices are outrageous ,They give us this incredible price for evryting some of which were the least of my dogs problems (like heartworm and and fleas when we were battling cancer ) i have nothing nice to say so i'll say nothing more at this time .they cannot extend any help to bill you for care but they can bill you to euthanize your loved one ! go figure this makes me extremely angry as this is what it came to cause the "scientists" not drs,did nothing from the start till it came to the something i still cannot bare to live with. I lost my lovely girl last sunday and i am in greif stricken.I thought they went into this business to help ! so what if i'm not rich i luv my pets as much as i luv my children .there should be some help for us less unfortunate . I would have preferred to contact you directly but as your post was done anonymously I am unable to. Every employee who works for OSVS does so out of love and passion for animals and we would all like to be able to financially help clients in need. However, if we did we would not be able to keep our doors open. There is no funding we receive to off set the costs of veterinary care and the cost of operating a 24-hour facility is quite high. While I can tell you that our costs are much lower than other similar facilities that is of little comfort to you I'm sure. Again, I would like to extend my sympathies on the loss of your beloved pet and hope you know that we do care and wish that finance did not have to be a factor in veterinary or human medicine.Cheryl Rizzo (Hide)

Dr. Hunley and his staff and the receptionists made us feel like we were the only ones there and our dog got wonderful care.We miss her very much and are very glad we were there for her last moments and Dr, Hunley by her side.Keep up the good work with all these animals who mean so much to their owners.Penny touched our lives which meant so much to two seniors.Glad Ocean Stae Hospital and all the staff was there for us and our loss. (More) They are there for an emergency and the staff was lovely, but the pricing is just completely unreasonable. An estimate of $5000 for surgery after the bill was already well over $1000 just to begin treatment and around $1000 extra for overnight hospitalization if needed?! Come on... don't play on people in their time of sadness. I brought two very sick puppies there on another occasion and was told that the cost to treat them would be $8000 and they would not guarantee an outcome. So I opted to put them to sleep. However, I was not pressured into making another choice. They expressed their sympathy and followed my wishes. I think the bill was around $800 for that. (Hide)

They never once could tell me what was wrong but each day had a variety of test for me to choose which one I wanted them to do, each costing more and more. They had me at my most vunerable time and sucked the life out of me and my dog. I would have done anything to keep her but it all went down to how much $ I could afford. I never could get a straight answer from anyone. I kept getting calls daily about another test and another test which I agreed to the "top of the line test" and after 3 days of waiting to get these test done I had to put her down. 3 days of waiting so they could plan a course of treatment, and on the 4th day I had to put her down. It was to late. I felt no empathy from them, it was all about the $. I will never go back there again. And this also happen to a friend of mine with her cat. They are so state of the art, someone has to pay for all that. It will never be me again! (Hide)

Ocean State Vets were there every time. They were competent, fast and fairly priced compared to the other guys (hint: EG.) The next time our dogs get into a scrape, Ocean state vets we will go. Dr. Brown, exotic animal specialist, was so gentle with my two hamsters, Leland and Trixie. Both had serious medical conditions and were treated with the highest level of care from OSVS. Although Leland passed away within a few weeks of his distress, the efforts that were made on his behalf were extraordinary. Now he is in heaven awaiting his partner, Trixie, who is still with us, but anxious to see her beau. Thank you so much! OSVS is absolutely the VERY BEST care for your very special friend. I have dealt with OSVS on several occasions but this time was different. I brought my 23 year old kitty for her last vet visit. It was time for her to go to heaven. I knew that the time was near but I truly was not prepared for the heartache that was about to consume me. The staff allowed me to feel what I was feeling without any judgement. They understood how strong of a friendship this was. They took such gentle care with my Freshy....they were extremely respectful of such an old girl. The final moments between myself and my pet were respected and regarded as important. I thank you all for that. (Hide)

OSVS saw my dog on short notice when I called while traveling. She had spiked a high fever and was in pain and lethargic. She had spiked a high fever and was in pain and lethargic. A tech came out to the car to start triage, she was seen promptly, the vets were thorough and she received great care. She has several underlying long term health issues and OSVS were attentive to her history. A great relief to find such good care when hundreds of miles from home. Thank you Dr. Kenney! (Hide)

I admit I have been to this facility before & had no problem. However my dog ate chocolate the other night & I rushed her to this facility & they pumped her stomach. However my dog ate chocolate the other night & I rushed her to this facility & they pumped her stomach. The vet came in to go over what else needed to be done with an estimate of almost $1,200. I told her I could not afford that & wanted to take my dog home. She got very arrogant with me & told me I had to sign a release ( which I would have) & the animal rescue league would visit me & if my dog died on my watch I would be brought up on criminal charges because I refused treatment for my dog. This was untrue since I did bring her there & they did treat her. I was shocked because I feel this was a threat & intimating. I also asked if they had a payment plan & they really don't. They have a plan through a Wells Fargo & she brushed that off as this plan was used more out West, whatever that meant. To make a long story short my dog is fine & the bill was 1/4 of the original estimate. I was disgusted on how they treated me. (Hide)

A cleaning of the area and three staples to close it, and she was good to go. Cost was extremely reasonable for the time spent.Highly recommend this facility. Excellent top of the line care. My 8 month old puppy had FHO (hip surgery) surgery. He was treated fantastic and today he is better than ever! I have full confidence in the staff and doctors (especially Dr. Clark) and highly recommend them.

Our 11 week old Landseer Newfoundland puppy Daisy needed open heart surgery. My Vetrinarian recommended Ocean State. They were able to get her in right away for her surgery. They explained the procedure and the risk clearly. The doctor called me rig... (More) Our 11 week old Landseer Newfoundland puppy Daisy needed open heart surgery. My Vetrinarian recommended Ocean State. They were able to get her in right away for her surgery. They explained the procedure and the risk clearly. The doctor called me right after the surgery. They also called daily and had no problem with me calling them as well to check on her. Each time I didn't just speak to the receptionist I spoke with the Veterinarian or the technician taking care of Daisy. They were wonderful with her. I highly recommend them.
Thanks to them Daisy will have a normal healthy life. (Hide)

I was extremely impressed w/ the immediate, caring service I received as soon as I arrived and asked for some help. The staff was caring and compassionate. I could write all day about the outstanding service my family received. Losing a family member of 14 years is a very hard thing, the staff at OSVS made this experience as comfortable as possible.
